
Gas Engineer for LPG Tanker at Blackhull Maritime Services Private Limited
Job Description
"Monitor and manage cargo gas systems, including compressors, reliquefaction units, and vapor return lines.
Ensure safe loading, carriage, and discharge of liquefied gas cargo.
Maintain gas detection systems and emergency shutdown systems.
Coordinate with the Chief Engineer and Cargo Officer for Operations involving LNG/LPG.
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of cargo-related machinery.
Monitor cargo tank pressures, temperatures, and boil-off gas rates.
Assist in gas-freeing, inerting, and cool-down Operations.
Ensure compliance with international gas carrier regulations (IGC Code).
Respond to emergencies involving gas leaks or system failures."
Educational Background:
Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Certifications:
STCW III/1 or III/2 Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer).
Gas Tanker Endorsement (IGC Code compliant).
Basic and Advanced Liquefied Gas Tanker Training.
Experience:
Prior experience on gas carriers (LNG/LPG) is highly preferred.
At least one contract as 4th or 3rd Engineer on a gas tanker.
Skills:
Strong understanding of cryogenic systems.
Knowledge of gas laws, cargo handling procedures, and emergency response.
Ability to read and interpret P&ID and cargo system schematics.
Familiarity with automation and control systems related to cargo Operations.
